Scientists recently created a model to predict how shorter winters will affect future mammal population sizes in US national forests. Unfortunately, when the model is applied to large forests, its predictions for large-mammal populations are too high, and when applied to small forests, its predictions for small-mammal populations are too high. Tuskegee National Forest in Alabama is a small forest, covering less than 100,000 acres. If used to evaluate the effect of shorter winters on this forest in ten years, the model would likely therefore ______

Which choice most logically completes the text?

A. exaggerate the effect of shorter winters on large mammals.

B. reflect factors affecting small mammals other than shorter winters.

C. overestimate the actual population sizes of small mammals.

D. ignore the predator-prey relationships between large and small mammals.

Scientists studying forest restoration have discovered that trees depend on complex partnerships with microscopic organisms for survival. The researchers found that special fungi called endophytes live inside tree leaves and serve as a defense mechanism. ______ these endophytes help by fighting off diseases and boosting the tree's immune system.

Which choice completes the text with the most logical transition?

以下为 十月题目 答案选项顺序

A. Specifically,

B. Nevertheless,

C. Alternatively,

D. In conclusion,

以下为 SATPLUS历史题 答案选项顺序

A.Alternatively,

B.Nevertheless,

C.Specifically,

D.In conclusion,

Certain features are almost always included in the designs of mosques, like the mihrab(or niche)【题库:(or tower)】, which is considered to be a ______ of mosque architecture. Even mosques that exhibit elements of multiple architectural styles, such as theSheikh Zayed Grand Mosque【题库:Shah Jahan Mosque】, which incorporates elements from theMughal and Moorish【题库:Mughal, Safavid, and Timurid】styles, will also include several of these standard features.

Which choice completes the text with the most logical and precise word or phrase?

以下为 十月题目 答案选项顺序

A. rejection

B. hallmark

C. duplicate

D. motivation

以下为 SATPLUS历史题 答案选项顺序

A. hallmark

B. rejection

C. motivation

D. duplicate

对照结果:

十月题选B. hallmark,SATPLUS历史题选A. hallmark。

解析:

我会带学生先圈出前后两个表达:

• almost always included:几乎总会出现;

Mateo Salazar and colleagues studied how members of the Yupno, an Indigenous group in Papua New Guinea, conceptualize time in both spoken language and gestures. The researchers recorded Yupno speakers explaining certain temporal words and phrases, such as jare, a past-oriented expression that translates to “day before yesterday,” and coded each speaker’s manual gestures. Previous research has found a tendency in many cultures to make temporal distinctions along imagined linear axes: for instance, Hebrew speakers often refer to the right/left axis to describe events in time. Some researchers believe this tendency is universal, but Salazar and colleagues claim this is not the case.

Which finding, if true, would most directly support Salazar and colleagues’ claim?

A. Future-oriented gestures used by Yupno speakers do not, on average, point in the opposite linear direction of past-oriented gestures.

B. Some Yupno grammatical structures used when talking about time are also used in Hebrew.

C. Yupno speakers were observed making temporal gestures both indoors and outdoors, though with greater frequency when indoors.

D. Yupno speakers typically use their left hand to make temporal gestures regardless of whether the gestures are past oriented or future oriented.

D. Yupno speakers were observed making temporal gestures both indoors and outdoors, though with greater frequency when indoors.

While researching a topic, a student has taken the following notes:

• A U-shaped curve in a river channel is called a meander.

• A meander forms when water erodes sediment from one side of the riverbank and redeposits that sediment on the opposite side.

• Meanders will gradually change shape and migrate downstream over time.

• A river with high sinuosity has many meanders, and a river with low sinuosity has few.

• The Indus River in Pakistan has high sinuosity.

The student wants to define the term “high-sinuosity river.” Which choice most effectively uses relevant information from the notes to accomplish this goal?

A. A high-sinuosity river has U-shaped curves called meanders that will gradually change shape and shift downstream.

B. Over time, the many meanders in the high-sinuosity Indus River will change shape and migrate downstream.

C. A high-sinuosity river is one that has many meanders, or U-shaped curves.

D. High sinuosity is caused by the erosion and redepositing of sediment in a riverbank over time.

SATPLUS历史题:完整题面

While researching a topic, a student has taken the following notes:

• A U-shaped curve in a river channel is called a meander.

• A meander forms when water erodes sediment from one side of the riverbank and redeposits that sediment on the opposite side.

• Meanders will gradually change shape and migrate downstream over time.

• A river with high sinuosity has many meanders, and a river with low sinuosity has few.

• The Huallaga River in Peru has high sinuosity.

The student wants to describe how meanders are formed. Which choice most effectively uses relevant information from the notes to accomplish this goal?

A. Over time, many meanders have formed in the Huallaga River, a river in Peru with high sinuosity.

B. The U-shaped curves, or meanders, that form in a river will gradually change shape and migrate downstream.

C. A high-sinuosity river, the Huallaga River has many meanders that will change shape and shift downstream over time.

D. Over time, water erodes sediment from one side of a riverbank and redeposits it on the other, resulting in a U-shaped curve, or meander, in the river channel.

对照结果:

核心笔记高度相近,河名和国家变化;更关键的是,SATPLUS历史题问形成过程,十月题问术语定义。

解析:

这里的SATPLUS历史题选D,因为它要求describe how meanders are formed。

Mauricio Drelichman and Hans-Joachim Voth’s analysis of the debt repayments and revenue of the government of Philip II (who ruled an empire including Spain and much of Luxembourg from 1556 to 1598) found an intriguing ______: although the government regularly defaulted on debt, it ran an even larger overall surplus than did the government of eighteenth-century Britain, which historians consider a model of fiscal virtue.

Which choice completes the text with the most logical and precise word or phrase?

A. incongruity

B. harbinger

C. sanction

D. exemplar

SATPLUS历史题:完整题面

Mauricio Drelichman and Hans-Joachim Voth’s analysis of the debt repayments and expenditure of the government of Philip II (who ruled an empire including Spain and Milan from 1556 to 1598) found a seeming contradiction: although the government had several short-term cash shortages, it ran an even larger surplus than did the government of eighteenth-century Britain, a nation considered ______ of fiscal virtue.

Which choice completes the text with the most logical and precise word or phrase?

A. a sanction

B. a paradox

C. an exemplar

D. an omen

• C. sanction:
